Samarkand State Medical Institute (Samarqand Davlat Meditsina Instituti) is the oldest medical university in Central Asia Founded in May 1930, providing high-quality training of highly qualified medical personnel. The institute is located in the most beautiful city of Samarkand – from time immemorial it has been a center of scientific thought and outstanding culture. In order to ensure quality teaching process as well as scientific and research work, lecture halls, classrooms and educational and clinical laboratories are equipped with the latest information basic technologies, multimedia projectors, video and audio systems. SAAMI has an impressive medical base. It includes clinics No. 1 and No. 2 with 375 and 200 beds respectively and equipped with necessary and modern medical equipment. Very Important Note:

Indian Citizens/Overseas Citizen of India intending to obtain primary medical qualification from any medical institution outside India, on or after May 2018, shall have to mandatorily qualify the ‘National -Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test for Admission to MBBS course.
Furthermore, the result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result. - No foreign medical graduate shall be granted permanent registration, unless he has–
- undergone a course leading to foreign medical degree with minimum duration of fifty- four (54) months.
- undergone an internship for a minimum duration of twelve months in the same foreign medical institution
- Received a foreign medical degree with medium of instructions in English; and
- studied the mandatory subjects specified in the Schedule-I;
- registered with the respective professional regulatory body or otherwise, competent to grant license to practice medicine in their respective jurisdiction of the country in which the medical degree is awarded and at par with the license to practice medicine given to citizen of that country;
- undergone supervised internship in India for a minimum term of twelve months, after applying for the same to the Commission; and
- has cleared the National Exit Test or such other mandated test or tests conducted by the Commission.
Hostels & Indian Mess
Kazan State Medical University has 6 student hostels which are located close to the institution. Students are offered different kinds of rooms which usually accommodate 2-3 students. The rooms are comfortable, fully-furnished, and well-heated. Hostels provide Internet access, TV sets and other necessities. Bathrooms and kitchens are allotted on a shared basis. The rooms are kept ready before students’ arrival. Strict rules are followed for students’ safety, the hostel premises are patrolled by guards 24/7. Males and females are allotted separate floors and blocks. All floors have shared washrooms and kitchens where students can prepare their food. Additionally, there are special areas for students to socialize and make new friends.
KSMU students can stay at university hostels, or they can allowed to rent a apartment within the city (the hostel fees will be refunded). Students who choose to stay at university hostels while studying in Kazan State Medical University do not have to pay any utility bills (electricity, hot and cold water, cooking gas, e t.c.) separately, as compared to those who rent a flat off-campus and have to pay for amenities, in addition to the monthly rent.
Apartment rent fees depend on the location, size and condition. Most apartments for rent are supplied with furniture and basic household appliances (refrigerator, TV, telephone and others). Please note that utility bills are not included in the rent.
