Ilia State University
Ilia State University was founded in 2006 and is a public higher education institution. It is located in Tbilisi and is one of the largest Georgian Universities. Nowadays, the school has 4 faculties, one of which is devoted to the medical and natural sciences. Providing a high level of education is not enough for this university, that’s why it constantly takes part and invests in research in the medical field.
The Faculty of Medicine here offers an English-taught medical programme with a duration of 6 years. Its main goal is to prepare students with the eligible competency and qualifications needed to become successful medical doctors. The first 2 academic years provide pre-clinical medical knowledge mostly in theoretical subjects.
Soon after students are prepared enough with theoretical knowledge, they start practising in simulators. But a doctor must be trained in real-life situations as well – that’s why bedside teaching is also included in the curriculum.
Tbilisi attracts not only visitors but also many international medical students. The city provides a variety of options to study medicine in one of the top European universities. More than 5 medical schools with excellent standards are located here, including the European University in Georgia.
Ilia State University doesn’t offer graduate entry course but student transfers are welcome.

Ilia State University Admission & Entry Requirements
The competition for entry into this university is based on candidates’ previous academic history. To apply here, you don’t need to pass entrance exams. Mandatory are English language proficiency and a high school diploma with satisfactory grades.

Very Important Note:

Indian Citizens/Overseas Citizen of India intending to obtain primary medical qualification from any medical institution outside India, on or after May 2018, shall have to mandatorily qualify the ‘National -Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test for Admission to MBBS course.
Furthermore, the result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result. - No foreign medical graduate shall be granted permanent registration, unless he has–
- undergone a course leading to foreign medical degree with minimum duration of fifty- four (54) months.
- undergone an internship for a minimum duration of twelve months in the same foreign medical institution
- Received a foreign medical degree with medium of instructions in English; and
- studied the mandatory subjects specified in the Schedule-I;
- registered with the respective professional regulatory body or otherwise, competent to grant license to practice medicine in their respective jurisdiction of the country in which the medical degree is awarded and at par with the license to practice medicine given to citizen of that country;
- undergone supervised internship in India for a minimum term of twelve months, after applying for the same to the Commission; and
- has cleared the National Exit Test or such other mandated test or tests conducted by the Commission.
