The Cairo University hospitals affiliated to The Faculty of Medicine is the largest medical institution
in the Middle East and probably one of the largest centre in the world. Kasr El-Aini is considered a
symbol of the medical profession in Egypt, a stronghold of science and culture, and a towering
image of human mercy. Hence, the founding date of Kasr El-Aini on March 11, 1827 was appointed
as the day of the annual festival for the Egyptian medical profession.
